This is my favourite response, but it’s just one such instance of the silliness this story has provoked. I have received death threats by e-mail and had the story banned from several sites. One of these, PlanetAvP, refused to host the story on the grounds that it was gay porn and They Had To Protect The Children. Presumably they think the 18/R rated "Alien" saga with violent death and choice language aplenty only corrupts the kiddies when it features a little homosexual romance.

Paradoxically, I have been accused of being both homophobic and homosexual by different people in equal measure. Certain self-righteous heterosexuals decided they’d appoint themselves spokesmen for the entire homosexual community and berate my story for being inflammatory, whilst numerous reluctant homophobes claimed that they weren’t prejudiced, it just wasn’t possible for a tough guy hero like Hudson to be anything but straight...

Incidentally, the guy who posted my favourite response asked for his name to be removed. He and I get on quite well these days, and I guess he's a little red-faced by what was by his own admission an immature, prejudiced outburst. I still couldn't persuade him to read the prequel, though...
