PHOTOGRAPHS

This is the charity bookshop where I work during the holidays. It's in a considerable state of disarray at this point as this was taken on my first day back. Some of the people who volunteer in the shop aren't really savvy enough to do the job, so a lot of my time is spent actually putting the books in the right sections. It makes me feel so neurotic fussing around the shop and moving tour guides of Azerbaijan to the travel section just because someone else has never heard of Azerbaijin so thinks it belongs in the science fiction section.

To take this photo, I stood in the doorway, hiding the digital camera from the undesirables always hanging around the urban music shop across the street. On the right, obscuring the cash desk, is the thrillers on the white revolving thing. Directly ahead to the left of the other doorway are mysteries, classics, poetry and plays. The stand in the middle of the room contains cook books, gardening books, LPs and big hardback novels. It obscures the shelves against the far wall that contain the likes of Catherine Cookson and Jilly Cooper. From this angle, you can't see the shelves along the left hand wall, which contain pretty much everything else.
