More Essex countryside. Given that there was countryside beneath us and countryside on the other side of the plane, it does seem that modern towns grew out of the settlements built on the river banks. On the way back we flew along the other side of the River Thames, but I had swapped the window seat with my dad for the return journey (twas only fair), so didn't get any photos of that. I got several of his duplicates (at least one posted here), but not one of Southend Pier from on high, alas.
