These are the mudflats in Shoebury. I didn't take this photo, because I swapped the aisle seat with my dad for the return journey. Seeing as he was the keen photographer, it's shocking that he had a serious attack of the shaky hand here. Or maybe it was just me jostling his arm, telling him to get a snap of those interesting squiggles I could barely see out the window before they went out of range. The plane was going quite fast, after all. The Viscount must have been going over 200mph if it got to London from Southend (over fifty miles) in under fifteen minutes. Its top speed was nearer 350mph, but I don't think they pushed the limit for this sightseeing trip.
