PHOTOGRAPHS

The thing that struck me about seeing Southend from the air is that it's really difficult to tell where you are. We flew pretty much right over our house (which isn't that far from the airport), but I didn't see it. It doesn't look like a map from up there. I took several rapid snaps thinking I recognised roads, and only realised when I got the prints back that they weren't. This one looks like the junction between Manner's Way and Oaken Grange Drive (near my house), but the grass verge is too wide. I lost all sense of direction once we were flying, and barely noticed that we'd turned round over London. Our course was also indirect, so that we would see plenty of notable landmarks from the air, like Southend Pier (which I didn't get a photo of).
