The main hall of the Imperial War Museum is large enough to house actual planes and bombs. Hanging over your head as you enter is this Spitfire, the silhouette of which is the classic image of British air supremacy in the Battle of Britain, a turning point at least as far as the country's belief that it could win after all was concerned. Just poking into frame on the right is a Polaris nuclear missile casing; it never held any nuclear warhead, however.
